Derek Rabier is a Belgian photographer whose work centers on the quiet presence of the human figure. Through restrained compositions and carefully shaped light, his portraits explore moments of stillness, vulnerability and connection. Drawing inspiration from classical painting and the tradition of chiaroscuro, Rabier’s images often emerge from darkness, allowing light to sculpt the human form with subtle intensity.
Working with minimal settings and an intuitive approach to portraiture, Rabier seeks to create images that feel both intimate and timeless. His photography focuses less on narrative spectacle and more on the emotional resonance that can arise from a simple encounter between subject, light and camera.
Rabier is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Photography at Narafi (KU Leuven). His work has received recognition at the Belgian Photo Awards and he holds the European Photographer (EP) distinction. Based in Belgium, he continues to develop personal projects alongside commissioned portrait work.
